Welcome to the official home of MiLES FRoM CLEVeR, the band that wouldn't die, even after they were dead. They rode down the mountain some half decade ago, toy-banging gunslingers looking for bones to rumble. They were three, then four, then three for a short bit, and then four. Steve, Moondog, Opus, and Ward.  Along the way they gathered a handful of chords, a flurry of notes, and a message: MfC is love. MfC is hope. MfC is pretty darned loud . . . but in that substitution-mass-confusion-clouds-inside-your-head kind of way, that wind-won't-blow-only-goes-to-show kind of way. That way that gets your toes a-tapping and your head a-bobbing. Then comes the mighty thirst and then the dancing.  After that, all bets are off, as they say down the trail and across the dusty plain.

But be advised, MfC is a blunt instrument. Once the launch sequence is activated it is impossible to reverse (until management shuts the place down or the sheriffs show up). So enjoy. You might not know where you are, but there's nowhere else you'd rather be. You're MiLES FRoM CLEVeR . . .

Tonight's BRI show cancelled due to snow
Sorry to report that tonight's Back Road Inn show has been cancelled because of the terrible weather.  BUT . . . we're happy to report that a new date has been added to the tour schedule:  We're now playing a special Valentine's Day show at the BRI on Feb. 13.  SEE YOU THEN!

In the meantime, stay off the roads.  It's crazy out there right now.

Snow situation . . .
Most of you are probably looking out the window and wondering whether or not we're going to be rocking Compton-way tonight.  At this point the answer is . . . we don't know.  Weather Channel reports this snow-maker is moving very quickly to the east, so maybe we have a prayer of the snow stopping and MDOT clearing things up, etc., etc.  In any case, we're in close comms with the management at the BRI, and they'll make the call in plenty of time for you to do something about it.  If you're a Facebook fan, check our fan page first for the latest go/no-go word.  If not, check this blog.

In the meantime, keep your fingers crossed . . .

T Minus Seven and Counting . . .
One week to go before we unveil the new version of the old thing.  We've been working pretty hard on the new tunes we're covering, and the effort has reminded us that choosing new songs for the set list is usually tricky business.  We've always tried to avoid the predictable or too cute but over the years we've found that we have to balance that with what the audience responds to.  And that's also a wild card because on different nights the crowds have responded radically different to the same song delivered basically the same way.  ("Won't Get Fooled Again" comes to mind.  One night high fives and cheers, the next shrugs.)

We want the songs to be accessible (meaning you recognize them), danceable (meaning you can and want to dance to them), and ours to play (meaning they sound good when we do them).  As musicians (that's right, bitch) we'd also like to be challenged along the way . . . but we're not slaves to our art, as you already know.  We just want to have fun and rock.

So we're spending this week putting the near final touches on the set.  NEWS FLASH:  Fans will remember we used to play two dozen songs or so, take a pretty long break, and then play two dozen more.  This time we're going to try 15 songs or so, a short break, 15 songs, break, and then 15 more.  (We want to socialize more, "get our knots back up," as we used to say in the fighter business, plus Moondog needs a smoke break every once in awhile.  We'll see how it goes.

In any case, we're looking forward to next Saturday night at Cryer's BRI.  Hopefully you are too.  See you there!

THE EDs Live this Saturday Nite
Don't forget THE EDs, MfC's acoustic offshoot, is (are?) playing live at Cheeseburger in Paradise in California, Maryland on Saturday January 16 from 8-12.  And the countdown continues for MiLES FRoM CLEVeR's return to the stages of southern Maryland.  Only two weeks to go until the debut redux at Cryer's Back Road Inn (also lovingly known as the Compton Civic Center) on January 30.  Can you feel the love a-comin'?
